In the UK the standards for the design and construction of buildings are governed by the Building Regulations. Their aim is to ensure the health and safety of people in or around those buildings as well having requirements for energy conservation and access to and about buildings. There are specific regulations for England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
England and Wales In England and Wales the Building Regulations 2010 apply. The Building Regulations 2000 and all amendments were revoked on 1 October 2010 and are no longer in effect. Part P of the Building Regulations, which specifically deals with electrical safety in dwellings, came into effect on 1st January 2005. The IET has some guidance information related to Part P. |
